Job/Department Summary:
Under the broad oversight of the Associate Vice President for Student Support Programs, the Executive Director has the delegated authority and independence to fulfill the mission and mandate for the Department of University Housing. The Executive Director provides leadership and vision to the residential life programs provided by University Housing and is directly responsible for all aspects of the daily and strategic operations of University Housing, Residential Life, Housing Facilitities, and Campus Residential Dining. The Executive Director oversees the administration and management of the campus student housing program for the University; directs departmental operations; oversees the management, repair, maintenance and construction of housing facilities. Incumbent is also responsible for department budget; sets goals and establishes implementation strategies, coordinates assessment activities and creates positive environments which enhance equity and support of diverse students and staff; Will prioritize and manage capital projects as well as develop and implement strategies that will contribute to the achievement of divisional and institutional priorities and growth. The Executive Director will be a leader and advocate for a living learning environment conducive to the educational success of our residential students. Under the incumbent’s leadership University Housing will foster residential environments that facilitates positive and proactive outcomes with regard to learning, commitment, civility, honesty, diversity, and human potential. Work will include Admin On Call Duty rotation one week per month. Work may include late night, early morning, weekend commitments, and travel as situations dictate/require.
Mandatory Vaccinations:
The CSU requires faculty, staff, and students who are accessing campus facilities to be fully immunized against COVID-19 or have received a medical or religious exemption. Selected candidates should be prepared to comply with this requirement.
Preferences:
Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:
Bilingual
Strong human resource development and supervision experience.
Education, practical experience, and application of student development theory in the organization and development of a campus housing program.
Facility management, design and construction experience.
Administrative/management coordination, priority setting, evaluation and assessment experience.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree
AND
Five (5) years of related experience in a mid to senior level student housing/residential life administration position (i.e., Assistant/Associate/Director). Experience will also include five (5) years of supervisory experience.
Time Base: Full-time- 1.0
Pay Plan: 12/12
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer – Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm.
Salary and Benefits Information:
Salary commensurate with background and experience of the individual selected. (Anticipated hiring range: $120,000 – $130,000 per year).
This position qualifies for benefits including tuition fee waiver (if eligible).

This position is a Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act (HEERA) designated managerial position and comes under the Management Personnel Plan (MPP) of the California State University. Individuals appointed to management positions serve at the pleasure of the President or designee. They are excluded from the collective bargaining process, are not subject to probationary service, and do not receive tenure or permanent status. This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act and is required to comply with the requirements of this designation.
Serve as a member of the Emergency Operations Team and the Pandemic Management Team.
The duties of this position will include participation in a decision that may have a material/financial benefit to the incumbent. Therefore, this is a “designated position” under the California State University’s Conflict of Interest Code and the incumbent will be required to file a Form 700: Statement of Economic Interest and is subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission. Throughout employment in this position incumbent must maintain a valid California Driver’s License as well as continued completion and compliance of the CSU Defensive Driver’s Training course.
