The Office of Strategic Communication (OSC) is responsible for leading and managing the university’s marketing, public relations and media relations activities to advance the university’s mission, core values, and strategic directions. The OSC is challenged to develop a top-flight external relations and internal communications program targeting the institution’s diverse constituencies and to develop successful marketing and public relations efforts that enhance the image and visibility of California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). By promoting the strengths and accomplishments of CSUSB to regional, national and international audiences the OSC plays a critical role in advancing the University and cementing CSUSB’s reputation as a preeminent center of intellectual and cultural activity in Inland Southern California.

Job Summary
The Digital Media Production Specialist will work under the oversight of the Senior Digital Creative Content Strategist and under the general direction of the Director of Strategic Communication & Brand Management to proactively promote CSUSB through the development of digital media in both news and marketing efforts utilizing all appropriate Strategic Communication media channels. The incumbent will work collaboratively, and independently as needed, on all aspects of digital media creation from concept to production, post-production and presentation of final photography and video pieces. The incumbent is also responsible for the oversite of digital asset management software, archiving and student assistances.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Acts as videographer/photographer and creative responsible for creating (preproduction, production and postproduction/post processing) of multimedia productions for broadcast quality/internet standard video for online, during events or on-air or professional photography for print and digital distribution.
Work collaboratively with Strategic Communication team to concept and plan future multimedia storytelling opportunities.
Work independently on assigned projects or as a member of a project team.
Provide office with technical knowledge on and operate photography and video equipment for production, including lights, cameras (still and video), audios and switching equipment.
Create graphics, motion graphics, 3D modeling, animations and titles as assigned.
Oversee set/studio preparation for production projects for both University Advancement and other campus productions (includes lighting, set design for spot productions, etc.).
Assist with script writing, copy editing and proofing of written materials to office standards.
Plan and implement creative programs to grow media views across all platforms.
Facilitate and maintain University YouTube channel. Work with strategic communication team members on other social media and web initiatives requiring digital media in order to keep social media and web relevant, exciting and progressive.
Monitor and maintain integrity of digital asset database for both photography and video.
Monitor and maintain digital archives and media resource files to office standards.
Devise and contribute to guidelines for file setup, pre- and post-production and archiving both photo/video projects.
Lead student positions, provide instruction and technical training to student assistants.
Provide technical guidance to other staff members as needed.
Coordinate scheduling and logistics for projects as needed.
Serve as a contact person for production clients, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
Work and coordinate with individuals at all levels within the organization in the development and execution of productions.
Meet production schedules and deadlines.
Maintain project management system to keep projects current with status and publishing schedules. Utilize project management system to monitor project assignments.
As assigned, meet with administrators, faculty, staff and students to create video/photo story segments, profiles, vignettes, etc.
Attend university meetings and events as needed.
Contribute to the Universities vision of being the Academic leader in customer service through quality, commitment, courtesy and teamwork.
Ensure proper maintenance and inventory of equipment to assure adequate operations.
Stay current in software used in the office.
Other duties as assigned.
Employment Status: Full-time, Probationary, “Non-Exempt” position with the possibility of converting to permanent.

Work Schedule
Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, weekends and evenings may be required.
Key Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of production techniques and equipment related to media related communication assignments including sound recording, graphics, television, photography, videotaping, lighting, editing methods and equipment.
Ability to set up and operate a wide variety of production equipment, including set-up for multi-camera video productions.
Ability to learn techniques in the development of television, film, radio or multimedia productions.
Thorough computer skills to operate digital production-related editing and duplication equipment.
Ability to use and maintain studio, camera and related equipment.
Ability to develop, create, stage and/ or produce professional quality visuals and evaluate production effectiveness in meeting objectives.
Strong writing and editing skill including a strong foundation in English grammar and the ability to learn narration and continuity script writing.
Working knowledge of tools for authoring interactive multimedia products delivered via a variety of synchronous and asynchronous techniques.
Strong research skills and broad knowledge of resources and techniques which communicate information through multimedia productions.
Ability to understand operating procedures and underlying technology in order to use and troubleshoot equipment and systems.
Strong organizational skills to independently manage and coordinate all facets of production, budgets and other projects.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain working relationships with staff and students.
Solid to advanced photographic capabilities including as film speed, light, and color requirements, as well as photographic processing and manipulation skills.
Ability to provide lead work and project direction to other staff.
Ability to work with and train students involved in production projects.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in mass communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or related field with at least two years of experience in experience in still and motion picture photography, including a thorough knowledge of video production techniques (videography/photography).
Preferred Qualifications
High level of proficiency with multimedia, editing and creation software.
Thorough knowledge of motion graphics, digital file formats and conversions.
Broad experience in multi-media production is a must, including prior professional video/photo camera skills and non-linear editing.
Ability to organize and plan work and projects including handling multiple priorities.
Ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment.
Ability to work cooperatively with a diverse campus community.
Well-developed organizational skills to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Previous experience working in a higher education marketing environment is highly desired.

Salary
Anticipated Hiring Range: $5,333 – $5,750 per month
Classification Hiring Range: $3,515 – $6,358 per month
