Job Description
PURPOSE/GOALS: The Plant Controller is a financial leader focused on providing decision support to the leaders of designated plants or plant as well as providing management direction and oversight to plant/cost accountants or direct reports. The position will develop monthly plant financial statements, implement, and maintain monthly plant financial reviews, and develop key performance indicators that help manage the business. In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring the integrity of plant financial statements by evaluating both financial and operating controls and implementing improvements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create/interpret business information that enhances operating results.
Partner with Plant Manager(s) on all aspects of the business to drive maximum profitability.
Identifies, evaluates, and institutes major economic improvements that increase profitability by utilizing continuous improvement techniques, standard work, automation, and innovation.
Key owner of the business budget and financial forecasts ensuring objectives are met.
Liaise with corporate accounting group on key accounting issues.
Develop and implement policies and procedures in order to maintain an environment of internal control and compliance with Cornerstone accounting policies and SOX requirements.
Train and develop associates to be experts on manufacturing processes focusing on measuring and improving profitability.
Identify and lead special projects.
Perform monthâend closing activities which include the creation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
Work with the Plant leadership teams to find cost savings ideas.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education B.S. in Accounting or Finance. CPA or CMA certification preferred but not required
Experience 8+ years experience as a Plant Controller, Cost Accountant or relevant experience required. Prior experience in a leadership role helpful.
Skills/Abilities Ability to work effectively in a team and process-based environment, driving for continuous improvement. Strong organizational and team skills required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed. Strong analytical skills. Excellent leadership and human relations abilities. Strong oral and written communication abilities. Thorough knowledge of financial and accounting practices and procedures. Excellent Excel skills and understanding of applicable software preferred.
