Responsibilities:

Leadership and management of the compositing team, the quality of the compositing work, and the overview of color continuity on a given show.

Ensure a high level of work from the compositing team.

Be “the voice” of the compositing crew with respect to working conditions and pipeline environment.

Be accountable for meeting productivity and quota targets on time and at a high level of quality;

You’ll serve as a key front-line representative of the company and frequently deal directly with clients in challenging situations.

Professional demeanor and diplomacy are always important.

Principal Duties

Supervising and providing support, both technical and otherwise for the compositing team as required.

Work closely with the Show Set-Up Supervisor, Pipeline team and Production for setup and quality control of the 2D image processing pipeline of the project from ingestion to delivery.

Work closely with the VFX Supervisor, CG Supervisor, VFX Producer, and Head of 2D.

Work closely with the CG team to ensure proper flow and execution of CG elements for compositing;

Work with Talent Acquisition to review and interview talent as needed.

Communicate and delegate the compositing needs of the show to the team.

Provide ongoing information and feedback to the Head of 2D about personnel, technology, and projects, report on workflow and pipeline processes.

Managing both hands-on operation of a workstation and administration duties, including mentoring artists, monitoring shot progress, and monitoring show resource usage.

Perform reviews for talent in the Compositing department and provide ongoing feedback from running shows and post mortems.

Maintain the proper workflow methodology for all artists – mentor the compositing team when required.

Direct dailies sessions and participate in rounds, providing ongoing creative feedback to the artists.

Report to Production to update status and manage risk to help execute the creative vision of the project on time and on budget.

Required Skills:

An ability to be a team player, first and foremost;

10+ years working experience or demonstrated equivalent capability;

Excellent English language skills, written and verbal;

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ensure proper workflow methodology for the Compositing team.

Expert working knowledge of Nuke and other relevant software;

High-level feature film visual effects experience;

Master-level understanding of compositing technology and methodologies;

Guru level experience in Compositing;

Possess extremely strong technical, artistic, and leadership capabilities;

Expert working knowledge of Nuke and other relevant software;

Expert working knowledge of review and annotation tools and procedures; Good working knowledge of Linux.

Preferred Skills:

Prior company experience.

Exceptional communication skills in dealing with both technical and artistic groups.

Exceptional organization skills balancing multiple shows and tasks.

Reliable, with good timekeeping and the ability to meet deadlines.

Experience troubleshooting pipeline issues.

Qualifications:

The ability to be an effective problem solver and be able to explore as well as clearly communicate possible solutions.

Previous experience leading teams.

Must be able to efficiently and clearly communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas;

Strong technical, artistic, and leadership capabilities;

Excellent understanding of the technical and organizational aspects of the compositing pipeline;

Education:

High School education or equivalent required.

BA/BS in applicable field preferred.
