Meta’s human resources organization, People@, seeks an experienced leader for our People Planning function. This position leads a core pillar within our People Planning and Strategy team – which focuses on coordinating the strategy, planning, and execution of work across People@. In this role, the People Planning Director leads a lean team of experts supporting the people planning process. This is a “hands-on”, operational role that requires a willingness to be in the work with the team and stakeholders.The planning pillar is a lean team that designs and drives the processes that define the work we need to do to move our strategy into clear initiatives to execute. Additionally, this team collaborates with many cross-functional partners to coordinate a number of interconnected processes to ensure alignment to our priorities, including finance planning, technology governance and investment prioritization, go-to-market, and resource tracking. The team is also responsible for maintaining significant and complex information that enable effective planning, including our portfolio of initiatives and offerings, our team inventory. This position and the team operate as the connection between strategy and execution – the focus is on operational process design and programmatic enablement for people planning and portfolio activities with the goal of maintaining a holistic and integrated view of all work across the People@ organization.
Director, People Planning and Portfolio Management Responsibilities:
Support annual business planning process focused on prioritization of initiatives to deliver against longer-term strategy and goals for People@ organization in collaboration with functional leadership and strategy team
Establish and coordinate ongoing governance and prioritization approach, including agile approach to work intake, cross-functional reviews and approval, business case review, resource estimation, and related activities
Establish and lead a technology planning and governance capability for the People@ organization to support intake, roadmapping, and prioritization of investments in alignment with functional priorities working with multiple groups including People Engineering and HR Technology
Ensure consolidated and clear updates are provided to People@ leadership and applicable stakeholders seamlessly as well as coordinate regular business reviews of priorities and portfolio
Coordinate finance planning and resource allocation processes with finance, recruiting, and other partners to ensure alignment to business/functional priorities
Support coordination of business engagement related to HR decision-making and governance with strategy team, functional leadership, and other groups as required
Maintain a detailed portfolio of initiatives, core/business-as-usual offerings, and teams across the entire People@ organization
Support a coordinated approach to go-to-market for cyclical programs and new launches in partnership with People Communications and other teams
Ensure accurate tracking of demand requests and resources for the People Planning and Strategy organization (team of which People Planning is apart) to support alignment to portfolio and priorities
Partner closely with other People Planning and Strategy teams including strategy, enablement, and execution groups to ensure deep alignment and a unified approach with stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications:
12+ years of experience in operations, portfolio management, or planning roles
5+ years of experience leading teams of at least 4-5 people, with a focus on development and coaching
Experience with portfolio management practices and terminology
Experience designing business planning, prioritization, finance, and portfolio management processes
Experience using core tools that support planning – MS Excel, Google Sheets, SQL
Experience designing planning and prioritization approaches, product roadmaps, and facilitating workshops with stakeholders
Experience and focus on data and operational rigor to drive planning processes
Proven experience managing in a distributed environment
Demonstrated experience and knowledge to craft briefings and presentations and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and influence key decision makers
Effective communication skills, including the experience to organize and present information in a clear and concise way to executive leaders
Skills in managing broad initiatives successfully in without positional authority
Proven service-orientation, humility, and highly collaborative approach to work
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of experience working in a domain of human resources, HR consulting, or management consulting
Masters degree in business administrative, human resources, or information systems
