Analytical/Bioanalytical Scientist

Peak Bio is a newly created venture out of the San Francisco Bay Area that will soon reach a critical milestone in our history of going public on NASDAQ. We are seeking scientific and business talent at two of our critical sites that include our center of research excellence in Palo Alto, California and our G&A infrastructure in South Florida.

This is a full-time position based in our Palo Alto, California offices, and reports directly to the Associate Director of Bioanalytical.

This role will be critical in driving the future of our business, demonstrating the ability to work scientifically with a unique business model, working collaboratively amongst other talented scientists who utilize expertise, analytics, creativity and ingenuity to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform RP/IEX/SEC HPLC, LC/MS, CE/cIEF, CE-SDS and spectrophotometry-based characterization of compounds including small molecules and biologics under direction of senior scientists
Follow analytical procedures and qualification protocols in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
Develop and evaluate new analytical methods to support a growing and versatile drug pipeline
Prepare calibration standards, buffer solutions, and test articles for analysis, including highly potent compounds such as antibody drug conjugates and linker-payload compounds
Maintain accurate laboratory records and notebooks (including ELN such as LabGuru)
Maintain laboratory supplies and perform laboratory housekeeping tasks
Perform or manage routine maintenance on analytical instrumentation
Write analytical reports and SOPs

Desired Abilities and Qualifications:

MS in Analytical chemistry, biophysics or biochemistry with 4-6 years of industry experience or PhD with 0-2 years of experience
Broad, hands-on experience in protein chemistry, instrument operation, and data analysis of biologics
Experience with AB Sciex, Thermo, Agilent or Bruker mass spectrometers and ProteinSimple or Beckman CE systems
Previous experience in analytical development or QC settings
Strong critical and creative thinking skills for independent and proactive problem solving
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficient computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Ability and desire to learn and develop new laboratory skills
Experience with antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) and small molecules preferred
Experience with bioinformatics and proteomics-based software packages preferred
Experience with early-stage R&D operations and involvement in purchasing and setting up lab equipment preferred
