Peak Bio is a newly created venture out of the San Francisco Bay Area, that will soon reach a critical milestone in our history of going public on NASDAQ. We are seeking scientific and business talent at two of our critical sites that include our center of research excellence in Palo Alto, California and our G&A infrastructure in South Florida.

This is a part-time position based in our Palo Alto, California (preferred) or possibly remote with travel required for meetings, reporting to the Head of Oncology.

The Director of Information Technology will work closely with the COO, CFO, Executive Director of Oncology and other cross-functional professionals to design, develop and lead the Information Technology strategy for the company, identifying opportunities for compliance, process and services for a newly public, clinial and research and development stage company.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, organize and execute of Peak Bio’s information technology capabilities.
Ensure Peak Bio systems and processes allow for organizational growth while also supporting a US bi-coastal footprint
Partner with business leaders to identify, evaluate, select, implement, and maintain business systems that are deemed critical to the company’s success
Develop an IT strategy that will encourage transparency, accountability, and collaboration both within the IT function and across the broader organization
Proactively identify technology improvements, prioritizing projects for the benefit of the company and its employees
Develop a technology roadmap that is harmonized with the company’s goals and milestones

Manage system and application lifecycles to guarantee business continuity and data integrity
Identify opportunities for systems and data integration to make business operations more efficient
Collaborate with customers, vendors, and business partners to maintain day-to-day service desk operations; be accountable for overall adherence to defined SLAs
Identify training opportunities, implementing successful guides and user awareness programs for the company around IT best practices, cybersecurity, and business applications
Develop, implement, and administer IT policies for all employees and systems in areas including but not limited to security, data management, data retention, and appropriate use
Continually assess technologies, vendors, calling plans, etc. to perform ROI cost management analyses
Manage on-premise and cloud infrastructure including telephony, servers, and networking to maintain security, compliance and availability of those systems
Provide end‐user support on a variety of heterogeneous computer hardware and software issues by identifying, researching, and resolving technical problems
Manage all budgeting, software licensing and contracts related to the IT function
Proactively manage IT security related protocols such as Firewalls, Anti-Virus, Anti-Phishing and Malware appliances and lead periodic cybersecurity reviews
Partner with Quality, Regulatory and Finance teams to successfully execute and maintain IT SOX and GxP compliance programs including 21CFR Part 11 systems
Provide architectural guidance and oversight across projects and technology platforms; ensures guiding principles and technology standards are followed
Manage IT consultants and partners to distribute workload as required by business need

Desired Abilities and Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent work experience
10+ years’ experience working within information technology, focusing on small to medium sized companies within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
Experience with implementing IT strategy for a newly public start-up focused on discover, research, development and clinical programs
Strong understanding of Windows Server environments (File Server, AD DC, Exchange etc.).
Strong understanding of SLA support requirements
Comprehensive understanding of network architecture, cloud technologies & SaaS applications

Experience in the most current technologies, with a focus on identifying systems and application trends
Strong understanding of SOX, GxP controls, experience in an FDA-regulated environment
Knowledge of Compliance requirements related to 21 CFR, Part 11 and GDPR. • Experience with computer system software vendor audit
Experience with eQMS systems
Support the development and maintenance of IT compliance systems and procedures
Experience with MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure, CCNA, Sec+, CISM preferred
Proven track record of leading IT teams/third-parties in high-growth environments.

Capability to communicate with all levels of employees and outside vendors and contractors
