Who We Want
Mission: To ensure the academic, physical and emotional growth of San Francisco’s children and youth by assisting school sites in building their capacity to meet the needs of the whole child. The mission is aligned with SFUSD goals and priorities and evidenced in our goals and objectives, which will be implemented under the direction of the Director of School Health Programs Department. The role of the Site Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for coordinating site activities for the Nutrition Education Project (NEP) at two San Francisco Unified School District elementary schools. As per Ed Code 44065, paraprofessional staff will not perform more that 50% of their job duties consisting of rendering service in directing, coordinating, supervising or administering any portion or all types of functions related to school health programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of BS/BA required (teaching experience preferred)
Nutrition Education Background preferred
3 years of school experience working with school age children/students
Experience working with a culturally diverse population Bilingual preferred-Cantonese, Spanish
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience providing training, coaching and role modeling to teachers
Leadership skills – ability to provide support and guidance to site staff
Technologically literate, word processing and data base skills
Organization and coordination skills
Willing to take initiative and work independently
Recent experience planning and delivering professional development, workshops, classes, and facilitating meetings
Time management skills/ability to multi-task
Flexible, open to learning and able to adapt to change and manage a flexible work day
Experience working with community based organizations and parent groups
Curriculum review and assessment experience
Ability to collaborate with school site administrators and other program staff
Problem solving multi-faceted situations
Good attitude towards teachers, parents, staff and community
