Under the supervision of the Director of Alumni Relations, College of Health Sciences, the Alumni Relations Specialist engages in alumni engagement marketing, communication and planning, and provides administrative support and project management to the Director of Alumni Relations. The role serves alumni efforts in all four schools (The UCI Susan & Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences houses Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Public Health) and sits on a team of development officers and development coordinators that serve fundraising efforts for the schools. The incumbent is a motivated, detail orientated individual willing to partner with UCI Advancement major gift officers and staff, along with academic faculty, staff and leadership to create opportunities for alumni to support the UCI mission and student success through service, philanthropy, events, communications, and traditions. The scope of responsibilities include: support of event planning,staffing and follow up, coordination of meetings and programs, alumni/donor interactions, budgeting, metrics tracking, communication and marketing plans and strategy, social media creation management, development and graphic design of collateral material, presentations, eblasts, and newsletters. The incumbent performs coordination of complex duties and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Attendance at evening and weekend events are occasionally required.

$25.57 – $35.30

Required:
Two to three years’ experience in administration, events and/or marketing and communications. Ideally in a university setting, but not required.
Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Written, verbal and interpersonal skills, including tact and political acumen to effectively represent the institution. Analytical and critical thinking skills. Ability to be flexible in working independently as well as collaboratively with Advancement, faculty and staff to achieve defined goals. Excellent judgment to deal with and disseminate confidential information. Applicable computer skills. Ability to comfortably use MS Office programs, donor management databases, and familiarity design and all social media platforms. Organizational skills including skill to meet prescribed deadlines, prioritize workload, work under constantly changing priorities; event planning skills.
Preferred:
Knowledge of basic concepts and principles of building and maintaining effective relations with a variety of alumni and other key constituencies. Basic knowledge of the institution, its mission, vision, goals, achievements, policies, and infrastructure.
