Position Summary:
The PSI Analyst 4 will provide information on safety events that represent opportunities for improvement in coding and documentation. They will focus on in-hospital complications and adverse events following surgeries, procedures and childbirth. The PSI’s can be used to help assess the incidence of adverse events and in-hospital complications and identify issues that might need further study, updated documentation and/or coding corrections. This position will also provide support for the DRG Appeals Specialist.
Salary Range:
Annual Rate Minimum $78,900.00
Midpoint $112,000.00
Maximum $145,100.00
Required Qualifications:
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Knowledge of the AHA official coding guidelines
Knowledge of ICD-10 CM and ICD-10 PCS coding conventions
Previous experience and Knowledge of MS-DRG and APR-DRG structures and payment methodology
Knowledge of RAC, Medicare guidelines (LCD’s and NCD’s) and payer appeal processes and stages
Electronic Health Record experience 3M, Epic
Previous experience in reviewing and processing appeals
5 years of inpatient coding experience, auditing experience and knowledge of PSI/AHRQ guidelines
Knowledge of PSIs
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, disease process, and medical terminology
CCS credential
Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of Clinical Documentation Improvement
Clinical background preferred
Coding experience in an acute care academic setting
Prior denial management experience
Prior EPIC experience
CCS with CDIP or CPHQ credential
