Application Specialist is responsible for developing, analyzing and managing the day-to-day operations of IT, to include hardware, software, applications and connectivity. This position provides expertise and support for clinical Electronic Health Record (EHR), the Patient Portal, and applications across White Memorial Community Health Center.
Responsible for maintain up-to-date expertise on the operation and application of EHR, corresponding applications, interfaces, and modules in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.
Frequent interaction with staff to identify and resolve user system and hardware issues and problems to ensure effective implementation and utilization of IT (i.e. unlock employee accounts in EHR, create new employee accounts in EHR and training environment, update provider scheduling templates), replace keyboards and mouse, device setup).
In collaboration with and Adventist Health IT Department, maintains an active inventory of all IT equipment and communicates across team members to ensure inventory is distributed and collected in accordance with WMCHC policies and procedures.
Enrolls new employee users into the EHR, including coordination of e-signature and training completion with Human Resources, and initial assignment and monitoring of EHR user security and privileging levels.
Direct and lead the conversation on future software upgrades as appropriate or required, to improve operations, consistency and budgetary success.
Manages software upgrades to include comprehensive testing, installation and final configuration.
Direct interface between patients and operational departments for utilization and optimization of the Patient Portal, including facilitation of necessary communication between the organization and third-party vendors like lab and EHR support vendors.
Leads during system failures to maximize the effectiveness and minimize the failure’s impact. Ensure timely and effective communication during and after system failures occur.
Analyze EHR training needs of providers and staff to develop an effective training program.
Implements organization wide trainings and in-services to enhance the use of IT equipment, software, and hardware.
Works with operations staff on a regular basis to develop and improve workflows.
Works closely with operations team to manage expectations and service delivery for client accounts.
Ensures issues are addressed in a timely and accurate manner.
Prepares screen shots and/or clear explanations of problem(s) and sends to vendor via vendor help ticket system as needed
Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum 2-5 years of progressive experience in electronic health records.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, demonstrated leadership skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of eClinicalWorks electronic health records software, EBO report writing and Azara DRVS highly preferred.
